If you spot any issues with the seals, ask the seller if they have been replaced recently or if repairs are planned. Replacing seals can be costly and time-consuming.
Inspect the Slide-out Mechanism and Tracks

Operate the slide-out slowly: Extend and retract the slide-out several times. Listen for grinding, squeaking, or unusual noises.

A slide-out that doesn’t operate smoothly can cause damage to the RV frame or interior walls if forced. It’s worth having a professional inspect the mechanism if you notice any problems.
Look Underneath the Slide-out for Structural Damage
The underside of the slide-out is often overlooked during walkthroughs. This area can hide structural damage that affects the RV’s integrity:
Check the frame and supports: Look for bent or cracked metal supports under the slide-out. Damage here can cause misalignment and leaks.
Inspect the floor and walls inside the slide-out: Soft spots or sagging floors inside the slide-out usually mean water damage or rot.

Look for damage to the exterior walls near the slide-out: Scratches, dents, or paint wear can indicate the slide-out rubs against the RV frame.

Pay Attention to the Slide-out Roof and Drainage
The roof of the slide-out is another spot where leaks often start. Water can pool or run into the RV if drainage is poor:

Check the seals around roof vents or air conditioners: These are common leak points.
